A new elder center is being designed to serve a tribe’s elderly members with specialized amenities. Repurposing previously income-generating land, the center has been thoughtfully adapted to better meet the needs of the community. The facility features a variety of flexible spaces for social and physical activities, including arts and crafts, fitness programs, and film screenings. Additionally, it offers both an outdoor swimming pool and a therapy pool to support wellness and rehabilitation efforts. At its core, the central area serves multiple functions, including providing a safe shelter during extreme weather conditions. Architecturally, the center draws inspiration from local cultural traditions. The design includes three parallel gabled roofs that enclose diverse program spaces. The main public areas pay homage to the tribe’s first business venture.
