Johnathan Woodside serves as Executive Vice President of Gresham Smith’s Building Engineering market, where he leads strategy and growth for one of the firm’s core practice areas. Over the course of his nearly two-decade career at Gresham Smith, Johnathan has been instrumental in building high-performance teams and scalable service lines that reflect the evolving needs of clients and communities.
Since joining the firm in 2007, he has led the expansion of Gresham Smith’s commissioning practice, evolving it from a small, emerging group into a thriving, multidisciplinary offering that spans markets and geographies. His technical foundation in mechanical engineering and deep expertise in energy, sustainability and system optimization have contributed to successful project delivery across a wide array of facilities, including battery plants, higher education institutions, healthcare campuses, offices, public spaces and federal buildings.
Johnathan was named a Gresham Smith owner in 2020. That same year, he was recognized by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine as one of its “40 Under 40,” a national honor that highlights rising industry leaders for their innovation, achievements and commitment to excellence.
Johnathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee State University and a Master of Business Administration from Tennessee Technological University.
