Gresham Smith Names Jeremy Busby as Georgia State Transportation Leader

Firm Veteran to Lead Transportation Strategy, Client Relationships and Market Growth

Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Jeremy Busby, P.E., has been named Georgia State Transportation Leader. In his new role, Busby will lead the firm’s transportation strategy and operations across the state with a focus on deepening client relationships, expanding service offerings and supporting the continued growth of the Georgia practice. Busby will also work with other Gresham Smith market leaders to bring new and expanded services to Georgia.

Busby began his career at the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he was a roadway designer and one of the first members of the project management team in the Office of Program Delivery. In his new role, he will leverage his experience and take a holistic approach to supporting and accelerating the firm’s work in Georgia through consultancy, workforce development, technology and innovation.

Since joining Gresham Smith in 2014, Busby has partnered with clients to create impactful program management teams and played a key role in opening the firm’s Midtown Atlanta office, which has grown to a multimarket operation with more than 100 professionals. Busby is recognized for championing high-performing teams that reflect the communities the firm serves and for connecting talent with opportunity. He most recently served as the firm’s consultancy services practice leader, where he leveraged design and engineering expertise to offer clients a portfolio of customized solutions through program management, advisory services, owner’s representation services, construction management and more.

“Jeremy’s deep understanding of GDOT, his proven ability to build and lead large high-performing teams and his strategic vision for growing our service lines will propel our Georgia transportation practice,” said Matt D’Angelo, P.E., Executive Vice President of Transportation at Gresham Smith. “We are confident that under his leadership we will continue to deliver impactful solutions for our clients and communities across the state.”

Busby holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an MBA in organizational management from Georgia State University. He has been an active member of the Atlanta community for more than 25 years, including involvement with the High Museum of Art, the Council for Quality Growth and various mentorship roles across the city.

Outside of work, Busby also teaches a course on scheduling in partnership with Atlanta Technical College, expanding access to careers in transportation, transit and other design-related industries. He is also active with industry groups such as the American Council of Engineering Companies, the National Society of Black Engineers and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials. He’s a frequent speaker on topics such as project management best practices.

“At Gresham Smith, we’re uniquely positioned to be a true strategic partner for our clients,” Busby said. “From early strategy and planning through design, implementation and ongoing support, we bring an integrated team that understands the full life cycle of a project for all the markets we serve. That holistic perspective allows us to anticipate challenges, connect the dots across disciplines and deliver outcomes that are smarter, more resilient and more valuable for the communities we serve.”
