Comprising more than 164 acres of open fields, facilities and first-class athletic fields, Crockett Park is the site of numerous events and activities, including a free summer concert series and its annual 4th of July celebration and fireworks. Prior to the park’s establishment, the City of Brentwood tasked Gresham Smith with performing a feasibility analysis to determine the size of tract needed to meet the needs of local residents. After evaluating the site for environmental impacts, we provided a master plan for the entire property and subsequently implemented a four-phase plan for what has become one of Brentwood’s most popular recreation destinations.

A Playground for the Entire Community

Our multidisciplinary team provided a full suite of design services for the park, which boasts eight multipurpose fields, two of which are lighted, along with eight lighted baseball/softball diamonds, seven lighted tennis courts, multiple concession and restroom buildings, picnic shelters, open meadows and a nature trail, 2.5-mile paved pedestrian/bikeway paths, and a playground for children of all ages.

Something Old, Something New

Ample parking and walkways complement the existing pond and vegetative communities throughout the site. Several historic buildings, including the Victorian Cool Springs House, were relocated to the park from various parts of Williamson County where they were in danger of falling into disrepair. We also provided design services for the park’s state-of-the-art Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, which provides lawn seating for up to 3,500 people.

Connecting the Community

Over the years, Gresham Smith has continued to assist the City with several phases of bikeways extensions that connect the many amenities at Crockett Park with the community. These projects include streamside greenway trails along the Little Harpeth River, roadside bike trails, numerous bikeways bridges and a low-water crossing.
