Kelley’s Landing holds significance beyond recreation; it embodies a commitment to protecting Lexington’s natural resources and cultural heritage. With its focus on sustainability, public involvement, and community well-being, Kelley’s Landing serves as a model for future park developments.

The development of Kelley’s Landing emphasizes the importance of community input, which was central to shaping the master plan. Engaging with residents and gathering diverse perspectives ensured the final vision reflected the community’s needs and desires. To support this, the project team initiated a comprehensive engagement strategy. Through a mix of public events, an online survey and nine pop-up engagements, the process surveyed over 2,000 individuals and over 60 stakeholder groups.

This project features educational programming, play areas, nature trails, and facilities for water-based activities, catering to various visitors’ interests. The design emphasizes environmental preservation, accessibility, and connectivity, creating an inclusive space for community members of all ages and abilities to engage with nature.
