For the airport’s rental car center, Gresham Smith provided professional design, design management and construction services, including counter modernization and HVAC/BAS rehabilitation. We transformed the former subdivided “mini-mall” concept into a continuous counter design, creating a unified and adaptable transaction area for all rent-a-car (RAC) companies and helping reduce capital costs as RACs transition in and out of the market. The renovation also enhances operational efficiency by increasing counter capacity; standardizing finishes, ceilings, and lighting; adding a video wall behind the counter positions to support dynamic branded signage; and upgrading to high-efficiency HVAC systems for consistent climate control.
Prior to the on-call contract, Gresham Smith also delivered the design for a new eight‑level parking garage serving Terminal D and led a campus‑wide signage and wayfinding overhaul, spanning more than 12,000 signs and $23 million in improvements.
