Gresham Smith Selected to Design Sewer System Replacement in Cincinnati
Gresham Smith is excited to announce that the firm has been selected to design two sewer replacement projects for the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD), which will provide long-term solutions for enhanced maintenance and operations. The projects arepart of MSD’s Capital Improvement Program as they seek to continuously renew public infrastructure assets to provide optimal services and prevent service interruptions.
Located in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati, the Wasson Ravine sewer replacement project consists of replacing 1,350 feet of sewer pipe and upsizing it to 24 inches in diameter. The project will also move portions of the sewer line located beneath homes to the street for ease of access. The project will increase capacity and help reduce sewer backups in the area.
The second sewer replacement project, which is located in the Walnut Hills neighborhood, consists of replacing or rehabilitating 450 feet of 36-inch sewer line and 10 sewer laterals underneath Victory Parkway. The existing sewer currently serves residential and commercial properties along the parkway. The goal of the project is to eliminate the deep existing sewer to reduce long-term maintenance and operational impacts.

Gresham Smith will work closely with property owners while designing the upgrades. Furthermore, the firm will also coordinate with local utility groups to avoid disruptions to other public infrastructure services, including gas and electric lines.
