After Creed Investment Company purchased the site of a once-famous recording studio and partnered with Portman Holdings to redevelop it, they called on Gresham Smith to design an amenity-rich, multiuse office tower in Nashville’s Midtown district featuring nods to the site’s musical past. The 15-story tower will feature Class A office space, a sky lobby with an amenity deck and ground-floor retail just steps away from iconic Music Row. Construction is expected to begin in 2021.

A New Tower with a Sought-After Address

A New Tower with a Sought-After Address

Rich with history, the Moore Building is named after Elvis Presley’s former guitarist Scotty Moore, and is located on the previous site of Moore’s recording studio Music City Recorders, later known as Studio 19. Situated in the heart of Midtown, one of the city’s most walkable and bikeable communities, the space is designed to blend within the surrounding, mostly residential and retail context.
A Modern Interior with Musical Notes

A Modern Interior with Musical Notes

Unique to the Nashville market, the building contains a first-floor lobby and elevator bank as well as a sky lobby on the 8th floor that spills over into a common area. Taking cues from the 1970s and the old studio, the interiors feature subtle musical references and wood elements in a modern and refined workplace setting.

The common area of the sky lobby connects to an 11,000-square-foot amenity deck with views of Midtown and the Vanderbilt University campus, offering space to spread out or gather. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts are also being made to maximize outside air flow throughout the building.
A “Moore” Energetic Environment

A “Moore” Energetic Environment

Activated by 8,500 square feet of retail, the ground floor features an extended lobby with one of the city’s first porte-cochere environments. The building also comprises uninterrupted office floors that allow for an open, energetic work environment. Located on the northwest corner of Chet Atkins Place and 19th Avenue South, the Moore Building is set to become another music city icon given its prime location and storied musical history.
