Located on an urban brownfield site within the 19-acre Nashville Yards mixed-use development, 101 and 201 Platform Way North revitalize the rail front property through two towers of Class A office space dedicated to a leading American global technology company. In addition to conventional office space, Gresham Smith designed a robust series of private indoor and outdoor amenity spaces and publicly accessible retail spaces that frame a rich and diverse experience for local professionals. Through the design and construction of a vehicular and pedestrian viaduct called Platform Way, the project establishes an active and new public realm connected to the elevated Church Street artery into downtown. See how we brought the various elements of the project to life.

Reclaim and Revitalize the Rail Front

For over a century, the site supported the sprawling publishing and distribution center of Lifeway Christian Resources. Designed to support limited private commercial and industrial functions, the campus prohibited growth and urban connection from the central business district. In response, our team approached the Nashville Yards masterplan and the development of the two towers as an opportunity to link these sites into the energetic fabric of downtown through a focus on placemaking, experience, connectivity, activity and access.

Bridging Streets, Uniting Communities

Platform Way, a new elevated vehicular and pedestrian viaduct, was designed as an investment in publicly accessible infrastructure to support the future growth and development of adjacent building sites while establishing the public link to Church Street, to the downtown core street elevation, and to the rest of Nashville Yards. It hosts pedestrian pathways connecting the community to tenant lobbies, to a variety of retail spaces, and serves as the primary vehicular pathway/access point to public and tenant parking activities.

Elevated Outdoor Amenity Spaces

The towers host approximately 36,000 square feet of outdoor space across three levels. A variety of open, covered and shaded spaces are surrounded by lush native plantings and organically shaped planter walls that define walkways and lead to communal gathering spaces as well as an expansive dog park. These offerings encourage employees—and their pets—to get outdoors and enjoy views of the natural surroundings through spaces that are specifically designed to support a variety of work and social activities of all group sizes.

Nashville-Inspired Interior Experience

The interior spaces throughout 101 and 201 Platform Way North tell a distinctive Native Nashville story. Our team delivered a sustainable, Class-A office tower that celebrates Nashville through its people, places and wide-open spaces, while providing building amenities and program elements that align with their well-established corporate hub on the West coast.
