As executive vice president of Transportation at Gresham Smith, Kent leads growth and strategy development for the market. In this capacity, he works directly with state-, area- and service-line leaders to develop strategies to grow their individual practices. Kent joined the firm’s board of directors in 2020.

Under his leadership, Gresham Smith’s Transportation market has more than tripled its staff and net revenue over the past eight years while adding new service lines and clients, positioning the firm to compete for and provide transportation projects at a national level. Kent’s leadership has also led to an expansion of the market’s client base and the establishment of new offices in Florida, Texas, Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as broadened service offerings including program and corridor management, construction services, right-of-way acquisition, utility design and data analytics. In his past professional career, Kent was a recognized speaker on highway safety, in which he conducted highway safety research for the Federal Highway Administration and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, and authored safety-related policies for both organizations.

Kent previously served as the Transportation leader for Gresham Smith’s South division. He began his career at the firm as a Transportation planning manager. Before joining Gresham Smith, Kent served as division operations officer for a national engineering company, encompassing 12 states throughout the Southeast.
