Gresham Smith is excited to announce that Shaun Self has joined the firm’s Building Engineering market as a Senior Technology Systems Designer. Self brings extensive, cross-functional experience in technology consulting and adds depth to the Technology Systems team. In this role, he will collaborate with clients to seamlessly integrate technology solutions.

“We are excited to welcome Shaun to our Technology Systems team as we continue to grow this critical service line,” said Technology Systems Department Manager Heather Callaway, RCDD, LEED AP. “His background and ability to bridge complex technology systems with clear, actionable design will be a tremendous asset to Gresham Smith and our clients.”

Most recently, Self contributed to high-profile government projects including an F35 fighter pilot training and simulation center and a multi-trillion-dollar ammunition production campus in Riyad, Saudi Arabia. His healthcare portfolio highlights include the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s technology master plan and campus design, UNC Health REX’s surgical tower expansion, Saint Francis’ Tulsa expansion, and Duke University Medical Center’s bed tower transition. He is especially skilled in integrated nurse call systems, incorporating location tracking, electronic medical records, and wireless devices. Additionally, he has expertise in security system standardization and coordination, including electronic door hardware. Self’s experience also extends to collaborations on aviation designs such as terminals and air traffic control towers, as well as work on water treatment plants and industrial production facilities.

Notably, Self served as a cryptology and electronic warfare technician in the U.S. Navy. He earned an Associate of Science degree in computer electronics and telecommunications and a Bachelor of Science degree in technology management from Herzing University.

“I’m excited to join Gresham Smith and collaborate with such a talented Technology group,” Self commented. “I like to think of myself as the Swiss Army knife of technology design, so my goal is to find the right fit of technology implementation for the client’s specific needs and to execute its design clearly.”
