Jason Hale Joins Gresham Smith’s Land Planning Market as Senior Landscape Architect

Kentucky Native Brings 20 Years of Landscape Architecture and Project Management Experience

Gresham Smith is excited to welcome Jason Hale, PLA, LEED AP, as a Senior Landscape Architect in the firm’s Land Planning market. Based out of Gresham Smith’s Lexington, Kentucky office, Hale brings over 20 years of experience in site design and development, master planning, construction management, feasibility studies, and the administration of state, local, and federal grant projects.

As a landscape architect, Hale is passionate about design and using materials and textures to bring creative, versatile spaces to life, and enjoys the collaborative approach of the construction process. He values the power of working with other professional disciplines to produce developments that serve the individualized needs of communities and is always looking for ways to use communication strategies—verbal, written, and graphic—to convey how effective design is beneficial for all.

“We are thrilled to have Jason join our team and add to our landscape architecture expertise in Kentucky,” said Jessica Lucyshyn, P.E., executive vice president of Gresham Smith’s Land Planning market. “His extensive experience, coupled with his passion for collaboration, will make him a trusted leader in our market. We are glad to have him on board and look forward to implementing his design ideas for our clients.”

While Hale has been a key member of several notable projects, his efforts on the Capital Plaza Renovation in Frankfort, Kentucky are what he is most proud of. He was responsible for increasing greenspace in Kentucky’s capital city by re-purposing the site of an old office building to give state employees more connectivity to the natural environment.

Hale earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky where he has also served as an adjunct professor and offered professional support since 2007. He is also a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

When he’s not working, Hale enjoys traveling and spending time outside camping or back-packing with friends and his wife, two kids, and their dogs. An avid fan of live music, he ventures to festivals and regional dive bars to see his favorite musicians.
