Located on Baptist Health of Northeast Florida’s 40-acre campus, Gresham Smith designed a new freestanding emergency department (FSED) and medical office building to meet the growing needs of families in the North Jacksonville area. The new FSED makes emergency care available outside of the hospital and closer to home, while the medical office building brings wellness services to the medical campus with a YMCA Healthy Living Center. With its new additions, Baptist North Medical Campus offers state-of-the-art, patient-centered care to the surrounding community with facilities that can adapt and expand in step with changing needs.

The 28,000-square-foot FSED, which has a standard design that can be easily adapted to site throughout the Baptist Health system, has separate units for adult and pediatric patients. While each unit has eight patient beds, dedicated waiting rooms and their own look and feel, they are connected by a centralized nurse station. Along with emergency care, the facility offers on-site lab services and diagnostic imaging, including CR, MRI, X-Ray and ultrasound.

The 40,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building is home to a YMCA Healthy Living Center, which offers health screenings, nutrition classes and other medical programs and services. The medical campus also includes a wheelchair-accessible walking trail to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
