Gresham Smith has appointed Betty Oropesa to lead its Miami office as the firm expands its health care presence and partnerships in South Florida.
With more than 20 years of experience in operations and project delivery, Oropesa brings deep insight into the region’s health care landscape and a proven track record of fostering collaboration and performance. She will drive professional development, client engagement and operational excellence within the firm’s 20-person Miami team. Key clients include the University of Miami, Cleveland Clinic, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Memorial Health System and Baptist Health South Florida. Oropesa will partner with Miami Healthcare Studio Leader Luis Sousa, who drives design excellence and oversees project support and team performance.
“Betty’s leadership and commitment to excellence make her an ideal fit to lead our Miami office,” said Rodney Chester, CEO and board chair of Gresham Smith. “Her relationship-driven approach will enhance how we serve clients, partners and communities across South Florida.”
Oropesa joined Gresham Smith in 2001, starting her career in accounting operations before advancing to project management and operational leadership roles. Over the past two decades, she has shaped the firm’s health care business and now supports a market of nearly 200 professionals. She has received Gresham Smith’s Award of Excellence three times (2002, 2004 and 2024) and has served as an associate since 2005.
“Miami has such a strong, collaborative culture, and I’m proud to be part of it,” Oropesa said. “In this new role, I’m focused on expanding our presence in the market and building lasting relationships with partners and clients across multiple sectors.”
Born and raised in Cuba, she moved to the United States in 1998 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida National University. She also holds a structural engineering degree from the Polytechnical Institute José Antonio Echeverría in Havana.
Beyond the workplace, Oropesa actively supports Bounce Back from Cancer with the Baptist Health Foundation, as well as Susan G. Komen and United Way. After her own breast cancer diagnosis, she became a passionate advocate for cancer research, fundraising and community engagement.
