Gresham Smith is excited to announce that it has moved into its new office in Memphis, Tennessee. The new space, located in the Crescent Center, features a hybrid workplace designed to support individual work and collaboration, giving team members the freedom to work from a variety of spaces throughout the day. The office design pays homage to the city’s deep roots and connection to Southern soul music, while also drawing inspiration from the Peabody Hotel and the Memphis Pyramid.
“We’ve been building relationships and serving clients in Memphis and the greater West Tennessee region for more than two decades, and it is exciting to see our team take this next step,” said Rodney Chester, CEO and Board Chair of Gresham Smith. “I was the first employee based in Memphis when we launched our work here, and I’ve seen firsthand how much this team and this city have grown. This new office is designed to give our people more choice in how and where they work, strengthen collaboration and help us continue delivering exceptional service to our clients.”
Since establishing a presence in Memphis in 2003, Gresham Smith has supported clients across West Tennessee with planning, design and engineering services. The Transportation market supports several key clients, including TDOT, the City of Memphis, the Memphis MPO, the City of Lakeland, Shelby County and the City of Jackson. The team provides a full range of services such as roadway and bridge design and construction engineering inspection, as well as expertise in traffic, ITS, NEPA processes, and transportation and community planning.
Gresham Smith’s Water + Environment team also partners with local municipalities including the City of Memphis, Memphis Light Gas & Water, the Town of Collierville, the City of Germantown, the City of Jackson, and the City of Lakeland to deliver critical infrastructure projects. The firm plays a key role on the Program Management and Construction Management team for the City of Memphis’s Sewer Assessment and Rehabilitation Program (SARP10), a long-term initiative launched in 2013 in response to an EPA consent decree.
Across the broader Mid-South region, Gresham Smith supports major industrial and economic development initiatives, including Amplify Cell Technologies in Marshall County, Mississippi, and Ford Motor Co.’s BlueOval City. The firm has also completed healthcare projects such as Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s Critical Care expansion.
Beyond Transportation, Water + Environment and Healthcare, Gresham Smith also offers services in the region through other markets, including Land Planning, Building Engineering and Life & Work Places.
“Our long history of serving Memphis has taught us that every project is an opportunity to make a real difference,” said Justin Avent, P.E., the Memphis Office Leader and a Senior Engineer in the firm’s Water + Environment market. “Our new office empowers our dedicated team to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions that enrich our communities.”
