Gresham Smith Celebrates Opening of New Jackson Office

Firm Continues 20 Years of Service in Mississippi

Gresham Smith is excited to announce that it has moved into its new office in the Jackson, Mississippi suburb of Ridgeland. The new office, located in the Concourse Campus of Colony Park, features a flexible, hybrid workspace designed to support individual work styles and team collaboration. The design celebrates Mississippi’s Southern charm, drawing inspiration from blues music, renowned local authors, and the historic Roman columns of the Windsor Ruins. Visitors are welcomed by a front porch-style entry, shutter-style accents, and curated artwork that reflects the spirit of the Mississippi River and the region’s rich culture.

“We’re excited to deepen our roots in Mississippi with a new office that reflects our collaborative culture and strong spirit,” said Rodney Chester, CEO and Board Chair of Gresham Smith. “This space gives our team the flexibility to do their best work and grow together through a shared service mentality, while its strategic location in Ridgeland enhances our ability to build lasting relationships and serve clients in Jackson and the surrounding areas.”

Since opening in 2006, Gresham Smith’s Jackson office has provided a range of services to departments of transportation across Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida and Texas. The local team serves multiple key clients with a primary focus on the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), delivering comprehensive design services including roadway and bridge design, bridge hydraulics, traffic, ITS, and transportation planning.

The team leverages advanced design tools to enhance precision and drive effective project collaboration. They also integrate smart traffic systems, from adaptive signal control to real-time traffic monitoring, to improve flow and safety. Recent projects include the I-10 widening, SR-19 Neshoba Highway upgrades, and multiple bridge load ratings for MDOT. The team is currently advancing a 30-mile safety improvement project in North Mississippi.

“At Gresham Smith, our long history of serving MDOT and the broader community has taught us that every project is an opportunity to make a real difference,” said Rachel Westerfield P.E., the Jackson Office Leader and a Senior Engineer in the firm’s Transportation market. “Our new office empowers our dedicated team to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions that not only meet the highest technical standards but also enrich our communities. This commitment to public service, collaboration and genuine ingenuity is the cornerstone of our work.”

As part of its move to a new office in the greater Jackson area, Gresham Smith donated a range of office furnishings and equipment to the Christians in Action Emergency Shelter for Children, including technology equipment, workstations and desks, lounge seating, conference room furniture and everyday essentials. The items will be used by the Emergency Shelter for Children and two Children’s Advocacy Center buildings. Opened in 1977, the Emergency Shelter provides support services to approximately 100 children each year and is one of only five in Mississippi. Gresham Smith is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community by contributing to these spaces for children and the professionals who support them.
