Gresham Smith is excited to announce that Bob Lane, P.E., has joined the firm as a Senior Project Manager in the Water + Environment market. Based in Austin, Lane will support the firm’s continued growth in the Central Texas region by bringing nearly 30 years of experience in water and wastewater program delivery and a multidisciplinary engineering background spanning process, mechanical, civil and hydraulic engineering.
In this role, Lane will support planning, design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for public sector clients across Texas, partnering with project teams to provide technical leadership, client service, and pursuit support.
“Bob’s combination of technical depth and proven client leadership will be a significant asset to our Water + Environment team in Texas and will reinforce our commitment to delivering diverse, impactful projects across North Texas, including key work for Dallas, Fort Worth, the North Texas Municipal Water District, Trinity Regional Water District and the Brazos River Authority,” commented Water + Environment Executive Vice President Dale Jones. “His presence in Austin and strong relationships across Central Texas will help grow our business in Dallas and Austin and strengthen our ability to help communities deliver resilient, high-performing water and wastewater systems.”
Lane’s project experience includes wastewater treatment plant expansions and upgrades, stormwater pumping facilities, and complex infrastructure requiring coordination across multiple disciplines and stakeholders. Most recently, he supported major capital improvements for clients in the Houston and Central Texas markets, providing project management, process production leadership, and quality assurance and quality control oversight.

Lane earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Missouri Columbia and has completed advanced environmental engineering and business coursework through Clemson University and Emory University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Texas, South Carolina and Georgia.
