Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Marshall Troup has been named Office Leader for the firm’s Midtown Atlanta location. With nearly three decades of experience in transportation, Marshall not only brings a deep understanding of the industry, but also a strong vision for the firm’s continued cross-market growth in the Atlanta region.
“We are thrilled to appoint Marshall Troup as the Office Leader for our Midtown Atlanta location,” said Rodney Chester, CEO and Board Chair of Gresham Smith. “Marshall’s extensive experience, leadership and commitment to community engagement uniquely position him to drive growth and foster excellence within our team. His passion for mentoring emerging talent, and his deep understanding of transportation and urban development will undoubtedly strengthen Gresham Smith’s impact in the region.”
Marshall joined Gresham Smith in 2025 after a three-decade long career with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He immediately stepped into a leadership role at Gresham Smith as Deputy Program Manager of delivery on one of the Transportation market’s largest contracts with GDOT’s Statewide Traffic Operations & Safety program. As a senior leader, he has played a crucial role in mentoring younger project managers across the Transportation market.
In his Midtown Atlanta office leader role, Marshall is responsible for fostering a collaborative, high–performing culture for more than 80 professionals in the firm’s Land Planning, Transportation and Water + Environment markets. Each of the markets also has dedicated leaders who oversee operations and business development in their respective areas: Erin Thoresen (Planning), Jennie Lynn Rudder (Land Planning), Jeremy Busby (Transportation) and Cameron Traylor (Water + Environment). Marshall will work with market leaders to expand the firm’s regional business and community relationships while focusing on mentoring emerging talent, professional development and operational excellence.
“I’m grateful to lead and work alongside the dedicated and talented team at Gresham Smith’s Midtown Atlanta office,” said Marshall. “Together, we will build on our strong foundation to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional service while nurturing the next generation of leaders, advancing our regional partnerships and contributing to the vibrant communities we serve.”
Marshall received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering technology from Florida A&M University and his Master of Science degree in urban policy studies from Georgia State University. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and has served as President of the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter.
