Gresham Smith is pleased to share that Healthcare team members will present at the 42nd annual 2026 Florida Plans & Construction (FPC) Seminar + Expo, held September 27–29 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Dagmar Bachmann, MID, CKBD, Healthcare Design Researcher; Sarah Boyne, RID, NCIDQ, IIDA, Healthcare Interior Designer; and Tatiana Orozco, PhD, Healthcare Research & Data Analyst will lead a session titled “From Vision to Guidelines: Bridging Clinician Insights and FGI Requirements.” Their presentation will highlight the redesign of a Florida oncology outpatient and infusion center, where clinicians, staff and designers collaborated through Design Thinking workshops to reimagine the ideal care‑day experience. Journey mapping identified challenges such as confusing wayfinding, overcrowding, outdated spaces, limited privacy and workflow inefficiencies. These insights directly informed design goals aligned with FGI requirements for circulation, signage, privacy and functional adjacencies. The resulting guideline‑driven, evidence‑based approach led to measurable improvements in care quality, patient experience and staff satisfaction.
Recognized as the state’s largest seminar for health care facilities and construction professionals, the three‑day conference draws nearly 2,000 attendees and more than 200 vendor exhibits focused on the design, construction and maintenance of health care environments.
