Gresham Smith is pleased to announce that Healthcare Architect and Studio Design Leader Reid Cimala, AIA, will represent the firm at the 2026 AIA Wisconsin Conference + Expo on Architecture. Cimala is scheduled to speak Wednesday, April 22, at 1:15 p.m. in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Cimala will lead a session titled “Architectural Visualization with Artificial Intelligence.” The program will explore practical uses of AI across design phases, including early programming visualization, concept development, client storytelling, and competition submissions. Through project examples and live demonstrations, Cimala will address questions surrounding design quality, authorship and accuracy in AI-generated imagery, as well as limitations and ethical considerations. The session will offer strategies for integrating AI tools while preserving the specialized knowledge and human judgment essential to architectural practice, particularly in healthcare environments.
The 2026 AIA Wisconsin Conference + Expo on Architecture brings nationally recognized speakers and forward-looking topics to the state. Breakout sessions will focus on design innovation, project delivery, sustainability, and building performance. This year’s conference theme, “Unbound: Architecture’s Untold Stories,” invites architects to examine the ideas and narratives that shape the profession and influence the communities they serve.
