Gresham Smith Selected to Design Water Main Replacement Projects in Cincinnati

Firm Will Lend Expertise to Greater Cincinnati Water Works for Annual Water Main Replacement Program

Gresham Smith is excited to announce that the firm has been selected to design multiple water main replacement projects throughout the City of Cincinnati, Ohio. The projects are part of the Greater Cincinnati Water Works annual water main replacement program, which seeks to replace a portion of the overall system each year, based upon the condition and system flow limitations, as well as any planned future development or street improvements in the area.

This bundle of projects is comprised of five different tasks, including the design of four water main replacements and one pressure reducing valve. For each project, the firm will conduct a land survey, research the current water services in the area, verify the location of new and replacement fire hydrants, perform the detailed design, and coordinate with the local agencies to make restore pavement after completion.

“Gresham Smith has an outstanding reputation for designing water main replacement projects and we intend to continue using our forward-thinking methods to best serve the residents of Cincinnati,” said Water + Environment Vice President Katie Nolan, P.E. “Water mains are an essential part of building healthy communities, as they bring our most essential resource to homes, families, businesses and other important buildings. We look forward to developing cost-effective, innovative design solutions for Greater Cincinnati Water Works.”

Gresham Smith previously completed the water main replacement for the FC Cincinnati stadium.
