Water + Environment Market Welcomes New Project Executive

Gresham Smith is excited to announce that Matt Boone, P.E., has joined the firm as a Project Executive in the firm’s Water + Environment market. He is based in the firm’s Columbus, Ohio office.

Boone brings more than 20 years of water industry experience to our firm. He has a proven track record of developing strong client relationships through his authentic approach and ability to understand and prioritize projects. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his experience on a variety of technical and challenging water resources infrastructure projects.

“Our Water + Environment team is committed to providing comprehensive strategies and exceptional design solutions to our clients. Matt’s understanding and experience leading complex water resources planning and design projects will be a great asset to our firm,” said Water + Environment Vice President Katie Nolan, P.E.

In his new role, Boone will leverage his experience to expand our water and wastewater business in Ohio and Kentucky. Prior to joining Gresham Smith, Boone was a Principal Water Engineer at Arcadis where he led a variety of multifaceted water resources projects from planning though construction. His project experience includes collection system and water distribution master planning and design, stream restoration design, pump station design, deep tunnel storage system design, wastewater  and water treatment planning and design, condition assessment and asset management and construction administration.

A career highlight includes managing the design of a new 8 MGD Water Treatment Plant replacement project that included gravity media filtration and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, which had a construction bid cost of $86 million. The design schedule was compressed to 8 months in order to meet the future water demands of an industrial user.

A licensed professional engineer in Ohio and Kentucky, Boone holds a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky. Boone is a member of the Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA) and previously served as the president of the Southeast Section of OWEA. He is a member of OWEA’s Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S) and OWEA’s Golden Manhole Society. “I thrive in an organized structure and am impressed with the standardization of processes, tools, and risk management procedures required for every project at Gresham Smith. I am excited about the future and look forward to leveraging Gresham Smith’s strong water-focused technical capabilities to deliver water solutions that achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients,” said Boone.
